History of Sonshi Koji

450 years of tradition

Sun Shi Xiang Si is a lineage of incense masters who have preserved the art of incense blending, originating from the Heng Royal Household during the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty.

This tradition of incense crafting has been carefully passed down within the Sun family for 23 generations, spanning over 400 years. The first master, Mr. Sun Gongmei, was exposed to the imperial court's incense-making techniques from a young age, deeply dedicating himself to the selection of aromatic ingredients, the handling of agarwood and sandalwood, and the principles of compounding fragrances.
